Leveraging 7T MRI for Psychiatric Research

A new article is now published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology, co-authored by researchers from across the University of Pittsburgh.  The article, Leveraging ultra-high field (7T) MRI in psychiatric research, explores the advantages of the 7 Tesla (7T) MRI over the more widespread 3T MRI scanners, referring to the strength of the scanner magnet. The article focuses on understanding the neurological origins, signs, and treatments, of diseases like schizophrenia, depression, and PTSD.  Topics include neural mechanisms, anatomical structure, and chemical spectroscopy used to measure neurotransmitters.
